Writing flash fiction and aphorisms is the literary equivalent of a one-night stand. You feel some small sense of joy during, but deep down you know you haven't really done anything that is going to make anyone's life better.
A novel or play, on the other hand, is like a marriage. They require deep commitment to an idea and the process is taxing, but if it works, it pays off big.
I've been sleeping around lately, and I'm trying to settle down. Some big things are in the works. There will be rings and cake.
